Symmetry of the feet
A symmetrical positioning of the cleats is important for equal power transfer
and a balanced loading of the muscles. We recommend that symmetry is
observed for this reason. The first installation of cleats using your Ergon TP1 is
a good opportunity to check that you are riding a symmetrical setup. If this
isn’t the case we suggest that you correct this. If there are large differences
then only make small changes. Should any joint pain or discomfort occur we
suggest contacting a specialist.
Expert Tip:
Asymmetrical cleat position may suggest a dominance of one particular body
side. For most right-handed people this is the right leg. This makes for an
uneven pedaling action that many cyclists have (Professionals included). This
can be corrected by conscious training of the pedal motion and biomechanical
optimisation.
