APPENDIX D FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q: Should the MX1 recorder always be connected to a pc?
A: No, there only has to be a serial connection when the recorder will directly configure by a pc. It’s also possible
to configure a recorder online via EuroWEB II.
Q: No LED lights up when the recorder is connected to a voltage supply. What’s wrong?
A: Check if all wires are connected properly, if the voltage level of the source between 10-36V DC is and if the
fuse in series with the power source isn’t blew up.
Q: Why can’t EuroTOOL/HyperTerminal find the recorder?
A: Check if the serial connection is correctly coupled, the recorder is powered, the correct COM-port is selected,
a Baudrate of 38400 bps is selected and a ‘direct cable’ connection is chosen in EuroTOOL.
Q: The recorder measures temperatures of -40°C/+50°C, but this could never be correct?
A: A value of -40°C indicates the possibility of a non connected sensor or a cable failure, while a value of +50°C
indicates a possible short circuit between the connector pins.
Q: Why fails the iGPRS connection?
A: The iGPRS-settings might be incorrect. Recheck the iGPRS settings (paragraph 2.8.1). Verify if the SIM-card
is appropriately mounted in the holder and if the cable connection with the antenna-module isn’t broken.
Q: Why can’t I make a Bluetooth connection with the recorder?
A: Metal objects dramatically deteriorate a wireless connection. Make sure there is a ‘clear view’ between the
recorder and the LAP antenna. Also recheck the Bluetooth settings (paragraph 2.8.2).
