1.Stopengineandwaitforallmovingpartstostop.
Engageparkingbrake.Removekeyorsparkplug
wire(s).
2.WithPTOengaged(leverpulledup,adjustthe
linkagelengthtowherethelowerendofthe
bellcrankjustclearstheaxlesupportgusset(see
Figure12).Makesuretheassistarmisagainstthe
rearassistarmstoponthedeck(seeFigure13).
Pushtheleverdowntothedisengagedposition.
Theassistarmshouldcontactthefrontassistarm
stoponthedeck.Ifitdoesnotcontact,readjust
sothatthebellcrankisclosertothegusset.

Adjustment

Engageparkingbrake.Removekeyorsparkplug
wire(s).
2.EngagePTO.
3.Checkbeltguidesunderrearengineandfront
mowerdecktoseethattheyareproperlyset(see
BeltGuideAdjustmentsectionforinstructions).
4.Beltmustbetightenoughsoitdoesnotslipduring
heavyloadswhilecuttinggrass.Over-tensioning
willreducebeltandspindlebearinglife.Toadjust
belttension,loosenthe5/16inchwhizlocknut
onturnbuckleandrotatetheturnbuckle;rotate
turnbuckletowardrearofmowertotighten,and
towardfrontofmowertoloosenbelttension(see
Figure13).
For48inchDecks:Ifthereisnoadjustmentleft
intheturnbuckleandthebeltisstillloose,therear
idlerpulleycanberepositionedinthefronthole
(seeFigure13).Thebeltguidelocatednexttothe
pulleymustalsoberepositionedinthefronthole
whenthepulleyismoved.Theturnbucklewill
needtobereadjusted.
Checkbelttensionafterthersthourofoperation
andatleasttwiceduringtherst24hoursof
operation.Adjustasnecessary.
