8.9 Gate valve and butterfly valve
The complete filling of the filter in the inlet coming from the waste water tank is controlled by a gate valve
with pneumatic linear drive. A butterfly valve with pneumatic quarter-turn actuator is installed at the
transition from the filter to the process water tank. Both components meet the industry standard
dimensions for a pipe diameter of DN50.

The process valves are actuated in opposite directions via a changeover relay. In the initial position, the
gate valve is closed and the butterfly valve is opened. The position feedback signals of both process valves
are coupled together. The combinations are made via two digital inputs:
• Butterfly valve AF3 opened and gate valve SM2 closed (initial position)
• Butterfly valve AF3 closed and gate valve SM2 opened
Attention!
Loud noises are generated when the drive units of the gate valve and butterfly
valve are activated!
