AF SWITCHING function
(alternative frequency
search)
With regard to the RDS system, the
car radio can function in two different
modes:
“AF Switching On”: search for
alternative frequencies enabled
(“AF” appears on the display);
“AF Switching Off”: search for
alternative frequencies disabled.
Proceed as follows to enable/disable
the function:
press the MENU button and select
“AF Switching On”;
press the / buttons to
enable/disable the function.
With the function activated the car
radio will automatically tune into the
station with the strongest signal that is
transmitting the same programme.
While driving, the same station can be
continuously listened to without having
to change the frequency when you
change zones.
Obviously, it must be possible to
receive the station that you are listening
to in the
area you are driving through.
“AF” will light up in the display when
the AF function is on.
If the AF function has been activated
and the radio can not receive the
tuned station, the radio activates the
automatic search during which the
wording “FM Search” will be shown on
the display (for technologically
advanced radios only).
With the AF function deactivated, the
remaining RDS functions, such as the
display of the station name, still remain
active.
You can only enable AF in the FM
bands.
NOTE Enabling AF also enables FM
following in DAB, where provided (the
radio switches automatically to FM
when the DAB signal is low and back
to DAB as soon as the signal is
available).
TRAFFIC
INFORMATION function
(traffic information)
Some FM
(FM-A, FM-B, FM-C) stations can
transmit information about traffic
conditions. The letters “TA” will appear
in the display in this case.
Proceed as follows to
activate/deactivate the TA function:
briefly press the MENU button and
select “Traffic info”;
press the / buttons to
enable/disable the function.
If the TA function has been activated,
the icon “TA” lights up on the display.
NOTE Traffic information is only
enabled when tuned to a station that
transmits the announcements.
