3.4 Format Volume

The procedure to format a volume is as follows:
Procedure
1 Select the volume to be formatted (multiple selections can be made) and click [Format] in
[Action].
 A confirmation screen appears.
2 Click the [OK] button.
 Formatting of a volume starts.
3 Click the [Done] button to return to the [Volume] screen.
End of procedure
• The [Format] button cannot be clicked under the following conditions:
- Volumes that are used for the Virtual Volume function is selected
- FTV type volumes where the usage is "System" is selected
- For the ETERNUS DX8700 S3/DX8900 S3, more than 1024 volumes are selected
• If the format target TPV fulfills all of the following conditions, an error screen appears. Check the
parameter settings.
- Allocation method is "Thick"
- The volume status is " Readying"
- The free space in the TPP to which the TPV belongs is insufficient
