Ć Remove the protective cover on the underside of the heat sink. Do not touch
the pad.
Ć Place the heat sink on the processor socket (see āInserting the heat sinkā on
page 34).
Ć Fasten the heat sink by tightening the four screws in a crossover pattern.
Ć Reinstall the air duct over the main memory and the processors (see
āInserting air ductā on page 81).
Ć Close the server, connect it to the power outlet, and switch it on as described
in the chapter āCompletionā on page 81.
6.3 Replacing the processor heat sink
Ć Open the server as described in section āOpening the serverā on page 22.
Ć Remove the air duct over the main memory and the processors (see
āRemoving the air ductā on page 22).
Ć Loosen the four heat sink screws in a crossover pattern (see section
āReplacing the processorā on page 36).
Ć Loosen the heat sink by turning it back and forth and then lift it out.
Ć Clean the upper side of the processor using a lint-free cloth.
Ć Remove the protective cover from the new heat sink.
Ć Place the heat sink on the processor socket (see section āReplacing the
processorā on page 36).
Ć Fasten the heat sink by tightening the four screws in a crossover pattern.
Ć Reinstall the air duct over the main memory and the processors (see
āInserting air ductā on page 81).
