Processors Replacing the processor heat sin

Ê Remove the protective cover on the underside of the heat sink. Do not touch
the pad.
Ê Place the heat sink on the processor socket (see ā€œInserting the heat sinkā€ on
page 34).
Ê Fasten the heat sink by tightening the four screws in a crossover pattern.
Ê Reinstall the air duct over the main memory and the processors (see
ā€œInserting air ductā€ on page 81).
Ê Close the server, connect it to the power outlet, and switch it on as described
in the chapter ā€œCompletionā€ on page 81.
6.3 Replacing the processor heat sink
Ê Open the server as described in section ā€œOpening the serverā€ on page 22.
Ê Remove the air duct over the main memory and the processors (see
ā€œRemoving the air ductā€ on page 22).
Ê Loosen the four heat sink screws in a crossover pattern (see section
ā€œReplacing the processorā€ on page 36).
Ê Loosen the heat sink by turning it back and forth and then lift it out.
Ê Clean the upper side of the processor using a lint-free cloth.
Ê Remove the protective cover from the new heat sink.
Ê Place the heat sink on the processor socket (see section ā€œReplacing the
processorā€ on page 36).
Ê Fasten the heat sink by tightening the four screws in a crossover pattern.
Ê Reinstall the air duct over the main memory and the processors (see
ā€œInserting air ductā€ on page 81).
