GE MEDICAL SYSTEMS CT 9800 QUICK SYSTEM
Rev. 6 Direction 18000
6-10-10
Proceed as follows to align the internal axial lights:
1. Turn on the alignment lights via the gantry test switch.
2. Verify that the collimator blades are closed.
3. Back off the “D” locking screw. (Illustration 6-10-5)
4. If necessary, adjust screws “A”, “B”, and “C” together in the same direction to position the laser light mirror
into the beam.
5. Adjust screw “A” to move the beam arc vertically so that the beam fans across the gantry opening. Adjust
screw “A” until the line is visible on the collimator below.
6. Alternately adjust screws “B” and “C” to move the beam horizontally (i.e., fan beam moves in and out of the
gantry) until it is aligned with the notched portion of the teflon end on the laser alignment tool (Ill. 6-10-2). If
this is done, the beam should align with the closed blades of the collimator aperture*.
* NOTE: Plane of Rotation must be done prior to the alignment light adjustment ,otherwise, the beam
may not align with the closed blades of the collimator aperture. Also, if the beam is not
parallel to the scan plane (i.e., scewed across collimator aperture) go to next step.
7. If the beam is not parallel to the scan plane (i.e., scewed), adjust screws “E” and “F” to pivot the beam about
the vertical axis, until beam aligns with the closed blades on the collimator aperture. Beam still should lie
within the notch of the teflon end.
8. Lock screw “D” carefully.
9. Go to Sagittal Alignment (sec. 10-6).
