8 Illegal Address An illegal Cylinder or Surface address was received by the Disk Drive. This bit
should always be a 0. If set, possible problems are:
DRIVE LOGIC Board
ADAPTER 1 Board
DISK CONTROLLER Board
Cabling from the CPU Backplane to the Adapter
Cable from the Adapter to the Disk Drive
ADAPTER 2 Board
9 Illegal
Command
An illegal command was received by the Disk Drive. This bit should always be 0.
If set, possible problems are:
DISK CONTROLLER Board
ADAPTER 1 Board
DRIVE LOGIC Board
Cabling from the CPU Backplane to the Disk Drive
Cable from the Adapter to the Disk Drive
10 Power Fault This bit should always be a 0. Check the LED’s on the Drive Power Supply.
11 Pak Unsafe A fault has occurred which is determined to be unsafe for the disk pack.
This bit should always be a 0. If set, the heads should be unloaded. Then
check the LED‘s on the DRIVE LOGIC Board. If the heads did not unload, the
error message is false. Possible problems are:
DRIVE LOGIC Board
ADAPTER 1 Board
DISK CONTROLLER Board
Cabling from the CPU Backplane to the Adapter
Cable from the adapter to the Disk Drive
12 Positioner Fault
occurred
A positioner fault has occurred. This bit should always be a 0. If set, check
the DRIVE LOGIC Board LED’s to find the cause of the problem. Possible
causes are:
Disk pack servo surface defective
Bad Servo head
SERVO CLOCK Board
HEAD ANALOG Board
