3-9 Final ACE Disk Check ACE Diagnostic Tape 46-266949G5 (or later revision)
This section of the manual contains information for configuring, formatting and initializing the following:
Single ACE
Dual ACE
ACE with HTD
During a LFC (Load-From-Cold) procedure, you may be instructed to reformat the disk drive(s). Refer to this
section of this manual for the format procedure.
Generally, the configurator program does not normally have to be executed unless the disk controller has been
replaced or the system configuration has been changed (number of drives, HTD upgrade, etc.). The
configuration is written to EEPROM resident on the controller board and should remain there unless a problem
develops.
The ACE disk drive uses a standard SCSI interface that is provided by the Zetaco Controller Board Host
Controller. The controller boards for the ACE Disk and the Optical Disk have different Firmware. Therefore,
although they look the same, the boards provide different functions and are NOT directly interchangeable. The
ACE disk emulates the DG Argus disk drive (same device codes). The controller and disk are connected in a
Single Initiator, Multiple Target configuration as shown in Illustration 4-3-12.
