CHAPTER 3 Settings and Measurement
Identication name
Set the identication name as a remote unit name or name for recognition by the supplied application
software.
The initial value has been set to GL840_ <last 6 digits of the wired LAN MAC address>.
* This identication name is not a general computer name (NETBIOS name) or a name for DNS.
Network Time Setting
Alternatively, if the Network Time setting is used, the GL840 clock can be automatically adjusted via the
network. Refer to the next section, "Network Time Setting" for details.
<Network Time Setting>
This GL840 has the ability to synchronize the time of the clock server via Ethernet.
Perform the settings for using this function.
(1) Internet Time
Enables or disables this function.
Off : This function is disabled. Time adjustment is not performed.
On : This function is enabled to perform time adjustment.
(2) NTP Server
Sets the domain name of a NTP server to be used.
(3) Time Zone
Sets the time zone of an area in which the GL840 is to be used. (Japan: +09:00)
(4) Synchronized Time
Sets the time at which the GL840 synchronizes to the NTP server. When the specied time comes, time
synchronization operation is performed using a method specied in Synchronization Mode.
(5) Adjust Mode
Synchronize at once, Synchronize gradually
Sets the mode in which the GL840 synchronizes to the NTP server.
Synchronize at once:
When the synchronization time comes, the GL840 synchronizes to the time server at once.
Synchronize gradually :
Even when the synchronization time comes, the GL840 does not synchronize at once.
It synchronizes to the time of the NTP server gradually.
The rate of adjustment is about 43 seconds per day
(equivalent to around 10 ms per 20 seconds).
(6) Connection Test
Performs connection test to the NTP server.
When the connection test is performed, a message is displayed.
If connection cannot be established, check the settings and perform the connection test again.
* If the connection test is passed, the following message is displayed.
Synchronization is not performed if the time difference with the NTP server is 500 ms or less.
