Why does my Grizzly Drill stall or overload?
- SSamuel MonroeAug 6, 2025
Your Grizzly Drill might stall or overload due to several reasons: * The machine may be undersized for the task. Use the correct cutter/bit, reduce the feed rate and spindle RPM, and use coolant if possible. * You might be using the wrong workpiece material. Ensure you're using the correct type and size of metal. * Dull tooling can cause stalling. Sharpen or replace the tooling. * The motor may be wired incorrectly. Ensure it is wired correctly. * The motor may be overheated. Clean the motor, let it cool, and reduce the workload. * Faulty motor brushes can cause issues. Remove and replace the brushes. * A faulty motor potentiometer can lead to stalling. Test, repair, or replace it. * A faulty spindle rotation switch could be the culprit. Test, repair, or replace it.
