The engine manufacturers recommendations, about minimum levels of quality API, could
differ.

Grupel advise the use of REPSOL DIESEl TURBO THPD 15W40 lub or the equivalent witch
fulfill the engine manufacturers specifications.
The adequacy of the coolant determines both the efficiency as well as the life of the cooling
system. In the engine manufacturer’s manual you will find specific recommendations on
the coolant to be used, in order to maintain the best operating conditions and protect the
system against corrosion and freezing.
If an antifreeze, other than those specified by the manufacturer, is used, which we do not
advise, it should be used with an appropriate ethylene glycol concentration adequate to
minimum ambient temperature at which the generator will operate. The same, for safety
reasons, should never be less than 30%. Recommended value of 50%.
Grupel recommends the use of REPSOL ANTIFREEZE REFR. MQ 50% or the equivalent
witch fulfill the engine manufacturers specifications
5.3.2. COOLING SYSTEM
The engine manufacturer sets the appropriate fuel. When choosing, the following require-
ments must be observed:
Cetane inde
This index indicates the performance if the ignition. When the cetane index of the fuel is
low, it may cause start-up combustion problems.
Sulphur content
When the sulfur content is high, an increase inengine wear occurs. In case of having only
high sulfur fuel, consult the engine manufacturer.
Viscosity
The engine operation may be affected in the event of exceeding the engine manufactur-
er’s recommended limits.
Density
Higher density corresponds to higher power and increased amount of exhaust smoke.
Distillation
Hydrocarbon content in the fuel.
