Constructing a Display By Scrolling
To construct a new symbol by scrolling use the
ARROW keys to
select characters stored as menu entries in the instrument. By
holding down either
ARROW key, you can scroll through the menu
rapidly until you are close to the character being sought, and then
proceed slowly until the desired character is displayed. The
maximum number of characters that may be entered is 16.
To select the displayed character, press
ENTER. The cursor
advances to the next position. Continue this procedure to complete
the symbol. After the last character is selected, press the
ENTER key
a second time to accept the character string and advance to the next
prompt. A list of the characters available in the order of their
position in the menu is given below.
_ abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz
To capitalize letters, press
SHIFT twice.
Following z, a series of symbols and numbers appear.
{}’()./:;=?#0123456789-+(blank)_
During scrolling, these characters appear full size. Those that can
be used for subscript and superscript characters are converted by
pressing the shift key twice for subscript and four times for
superscript. Subscripts are available for numbers 2 through 8, and
superscripts are available for numbers 2 through 6, "-" and "+".
Scrolling Example:
When you press
ENTER at the Symbol: prompt, the display shows
the unit of measure followed by the cursor (positioned at the first
available position). If mg/L is selected as the unit of measure, the
display shows:
Resume scrolling with the arrow keys until the first character is in
the display. For example, to construct a display for low-range
sulfate (SO
4
2-
LR), scroll until the letter “s” appears.
The letter is lower case and must be changed to an upper case by
pressing
SHIFT twice. Accept the upper case S with the ENTER key,
and the cursor advances to the next space.
