5. Cap and invert
several times to mix.
6. Place the vials in the
preheated COD Reactor.
Digest for 1 hour.
You may digest more
resistant organics and the
blank for up to four hours.
7. Remove the vials and
place them in a cooling
rack for two minutes.
Note: If a vial develops a
colorless upper layer and a
purple lower layer, invert the
vial several times to mix and
proceed.
8. Cool the vials to room
temperature in a cool
water bath or with
running tap water. This
takes several minutes.
9. Remove the vials
from the water and wipe
with a clean, dry paper
towel.
10. Invert the vials
several times to mix.
11. Install the 16-mm
adapter.
Place the blank into the
adapter.
12. Touch Zero.
The display will show:
0 mg/L COD Mn
13. Place the sample into
the cell holder.
14. Touch Read.
Results will appear in
mg/L COD Mn.
