5.5 Wrap a heater mandrel
WARNING
Potential Fire Hazard. Use only exact replacement heater wrap tubing and tape or
insulation specified
by the manufacturer.
WARNING
Potential Burn Hazard. Turn off System Unit power and allow the heater to cool
completely before
touching the heater element or mandrel.
The length of tubing required for different heated chemistries may vary. Chemistry
manifolds are labeled with the length of heater wrap required: 175 cm, 650 cm, 825 cm
and 1200 cm.
Note: Mandrels are available in four prewrapped lengths: 175 cm, 650 cm, 825 cm and 1200 cm.
Each prewrapped mandrel is labeled with the length of tubing that the mandrel carries. Refer to
Section 7 on page 83.
To change or replace a length of tubing wrapped around the heater mandrel:
1. After the mandrel has cooled, disconnect both ends of the tubing from the manifold.
2. Disconnect the thermocouple plug from the jack on the side of the drip tray (Figure 48
on page 54, item 3).
3. Remove the mandrel from the heater element.
