System Recovery
The recovery process returns your system to the original factory settings. When
you ordered your system, you provided details about your application on the
system configuration sheet. Your system is set up according to this
configuration sheet.
Before you start the recovery process, back up all of your files. See “Back Up
Files” on page 51 for details. The recovery process completely overwrites the
hard drive that contains your system files. Any additional media drives in your
system are not overwritten.
The recovery process does not recover any unsupported third-party software or
personal preferences in the Windows operating environment. Changes made to
settings, or patches installed after delivery, are not recovered.
System Recovery
DVD
The recovery procedure requires the System Recovery DVD that was delivered
with your system. Harris maintains a duplicate copy of your System Recovery
DVD. If diagnostics are required, your system can be recreated at the factory
using the duplicate System Recovery DVD.
Recovery
Procedure
To recover your system, complete the following steps.
1 Create a backup copy of all your files. See “Back Up Files” on page 51 for
details.
2 Unplug all media drives before restoring the system, to ensure the OS is
recovered to the proper drive.
3 Place the System Recovery DVD in the DVD-ROM drive.
By default, your system is configured to look for boot instructions on DVD
before checking the hard drive. If your system does not boot from the
DVD, have your system administrator confirm that the DVD comes before
the hard drive in the boot sequence.
4 Turn off the system.
5 Wait for at least four seconds.
