The RF Switch Position buttons allow 2 customer RF system switches to change and
monitor their status.
The Exciter switches have the same functions as the controls on the front of the exciter
switcher logic and the button LEDs will display the same information.
The Power Raise and Lower buttons are used for Exciter Power control. The front panel
control from section 4.2.1 are hardwired to the selected exciter. These buttons are
software control inputs. The Visual Raise and Lower Power buttons also raise and lower
the sound power maintaining the correct vision/sound percentage. Typically, the sound
power is 10% of the vision power. The Aural buttons implement sound only control.
5.4.2.4 Messages in the LED Display
Normal message sequence is the model number, forward power, and reflected power.
This will be shown until the external I/O controller sends information to set the LED
display to show the model number of the particular transmitter it’s in. The model
number will be seen during normal operations. If the front panel is in boot loader
mode, the screen will remain blank. If the front panel is in factory test mode, then
“TEST” is displayed on the LED display. The remaining five messages are error
messages.
5.4.2.4.1 FP Error
This error is displayed when the front panel determines that a hardwired button
has been pressed for longer then 30 seconds. This is to alert the operator so that
the condition can be corrected immediately. This condition is caused by either a
sticking button, or by something leaning against the button. The only exception to
this is the power raise and power lower buttons.
5.4.2.4.2 Com Error, Main Controller
This error is displayed when the front panel does not receive a status update from
the external I/O controller in the driver cabinet after 3 attempts. The front panel
will then cause the external I/O status indicator on the back panel to blink red.
The front panel will continue to send requests to the external I/O until it starts to
reply with status updates. When status updates are again being received, the
external I/O status indicator is returned to the control of the external I/O and the
model number is shown. Possible causes for this error condition are the micro-
controller on external I/O may be locked up or busy with a time consuming
process such as ISP.
5.4.2.5 Other Indicators
Locate the small pc board on the back of the front control panel. There are two power
supply LED indicators (DS5 and DS63) on the PC board under the ribbon cable, to
indicate that both +5VDC supplies are functioning properly. If any of these are not lit
then the power supply is down. If the power supply is down, check to see if the 0.75A
resetable fuses (R11 and R52) are open. If R11 or R52 are open, then disconnect the
