Hill-Rom® MC700 General Ward Bed—
Central Brake System Replacement Instructions
Tools required: Hex wrench, 3mm Hex wrench, 4mm
Flat head screwdriver Needle nose pliers
Rubber mallet Torque wrench
Parts required: (1) 713528 Hex bar foot end
(1) 713529 Hex bar head end
(1) 710526 Central rod link weldment
(1) 710075 Transmission lever
(1) 172134 Transmission lever bariatric
(4) 187063 Bushing
(2) 711079 Grub screw
(2) 710066 Helmut cap
Removal
1. Adjust the bed height to access the base frame.
2. Set the brakes to Steer.
3. At the foot end, loosen, but do not remove, the grub screws (A, B) from the brake ped-
als (see figure 1).

4. Set the brakes to Neutral.

Summary

Removal

Loosen Foot End Brake Grub Screws

Loosen grub screws (A, B) at the foot end brake pedals without removing them.

Remove Foot End Brake Components

Remove brake pedal, plastic cap, hex bar foot end, and brake pedal from the foot end.

Remove Head End Brake Components

Remove helmet cap, plastic cap, hex bar head end, and helmet cap from the head end.

Access and Remove Head End Transmission Lever

Pull central link rod (K) to access and remove transmission lever (L) at the head end.

Remove Foot End Transmission Lever

Pull central link rod (K) and remove the transmission lever bariatric (N) from the foot end.

Position and Remove Central Link Rod

Rotate central link rod (K) and pull it out of the base frame tube.

Replacement

Install Foot End Hex Bar Assembly

Insert the new hex bar foot end (A) into the base frame tube (M).
