The following table shows the order of front-end director (FED) installation. If the storage
system includes internal drives, the controller requires a minimum of a single pair of
back-end directors and can be congured to support up to two back-end director pairs. A
storage system that does not include any internal drives is referred to as a diskless
conguration. The term standard describes a controller congured with a single back-
end director, while high performance describes a controller congured with two back-end
director pairss.
