3.2 HMX4248 I/O MODULE
The HMX4248 is an I/O (input/output) expander for the miniMAX subrack.
The unit features 24 alarm inputs that may be configured as either contact closure or
end-of-line resistor sensing (DIP switch selectable on the HMX128 controller card) and
eight relay outputs.
3.2.1 Installation
a. Install the HMX4248 on the rear of the HMX32128 subrack using the mounting
stand-off posts and screws supplied.
b. Connect the HMX4248 to the HMX128 using the supplied ribbon cable
(take care not to dislodge the HMX128 card when seating the connector).
c. Select the required operating mode on the HMX128.
DIP switch 3, position 4 – OFF = contact closure mode
DIP switch 3, position 4 - ON = end-of-line resistor mode
d. Connect the field cabling to the input/output connectors.
Inputs:
Maximum voltage is ±20V
Control Outputs:
Maximum current = 1 Amp
Maximum voltage = 50V
3.2.2 Operation
Contact Closure (CC) Mode
When configured in the CC mode, the HMX4248/HMX128 detects contact changes of
state according to the NO/NC setting as defined in the Alarm Input table in SETMAX.
End-Of-Line (EOL) Mode
When configured in the EOL mode, a setting of NC in SETMAX causes an alarm to
become active when the alarm loop becomes either open or short circuited (unsealed).
Conversely, in the NO mode, the alarm becomes active when the loop is in the “sealed”
position.
