pporting the fan assembly by its bottom with one hand, hold the fan assembly handle with the
other hand to pull the fan assembly out of the slot.
6. Put the removed fan assembly on the antistatic mat or its original shipping materials.

Installing a fan assembly
1. Wear an ESD wrist strap and make sure it makes good skin contact and is well grounded. For
more information, see "Installing FRUs."
2. Unpac
k a new fan assembly and push it into the fan assembly slot along the slide rails until it has
a close contact with the backplane.
3. Use a screwdriver to fasten the captive screw on the fan assembly.
4. Check the FAN LEDs on the MPU of the switch. If the OK LED is on, the fan assembly is installed
successfully. For more information about the FAN LEDs, see "Appendix C LEDs."

• Make sure the fan assembly handle has been pushed in to the slot after installation.
• You can check the fan status at the CLI. For more information, see "Hardware management and
