Chassis views
Every 7500 switch chassis has an MPU section, LPU section, power supply section, and fan assembly
section. Figure 54 u
ses the 7503 switch as an example.

(1) MPU slots
Both MPUs and MPU slots are pink edged for
easy identification.
An MPU is the supervisor and control engine
and switching fabric for the switches.
You must order MPUs as needed, and
install at least one MPU.
You can install two MPUs (for active and
standby switchover) for all 7500 switches
except the 7503-S.
