Table E–1: Starting a Windows NT Workstation Installation

1 Insert the Microsoft Windows NT
Workstation CD-ROM into the CD
drive.
CD-ROM drive is ready.
2 From the AlphaBIOS boot screen,
press [F2].
AlphaBIOS setup screen displays.
3 Select
Install Windows NT.
Windows NT setup procedure starts. "Welcome
to Setup" screen is displayed.
4 If your system type is not listed,
select Other.
Press [Enter].
-or-
If your system type is listed, select
system.
Press [Enter].
Skip to step 7.
"Insert the manufacturer-supplied hardware
support disk" message is displayed.
5 Insert the hardware manufacturer-
supplied hardware support disk.
Press [Enter] when ready.
You have chosen to change your computer type to
one supported by a disk provided by a hardware
manufacturer. "Please insert manufacturer-
supplied hardware support disk."
6 Select appropriate system type.
Press [Enter].
A list of systems is displayed.
7 Press [Enter]. You may now continue the installation process.
8 Select Custom Setup by
pressing C.
Setup has recognized the following mass storage
devices in your computer:
