2. Disconnect the negative (black) battery cable located on the front of the battery pack (1),
followed by the positive (red) battery cable on the rear of the battery pack (2).

3. Set the used battery pack aside for proper disposal. Refer to “Disposing of Used
Batteries,” in this chapter.
WARNING: To reduce the risk of short-circuits or arcing, disconnect the positive (red)
battery lead before disconnecting the negative (black) battery lead.
WARNING: If the UPS is not powered down, immediately replace the battery pack. Do
not allow terminal connections to contact conductive materials. Do not touch or bring
tools in close proximity to terminals.
