Installing the Capacity Expansion Disk Pack,
BB941A
One disk enclosure, containing 11 blank disks and 4 hot spare disks, is supplied with the product and is
connected at installation. See the HPE StoreOnce 5500 System Installation and Configuration Guide for
details.
This chapter describes how to install additional StoreOnce 5500 System Capacity Expansion disk packs
(BB941A) , which contain eleven 4TB disks, into the disk enclosure.
Unlike the pre-configured storage, additional storage must be licensed, discovered and added to the
StoreOnce Backup system before it is available for use. Please note that there is a different license for
the 44 TB and the 60 TB Capacity Expansion. When adding expansion 1 through 5 for each enclosure,
the 44 TB license is required to be added for each expansion. See
Licensing and adding storage to the
HPE StoreOnce System on page 43.
NOTE:
Once the first disk enclosure is completely full, further expansion is possible using the StoreOnce 5500
System 60TB Capacity Expansion Kit. For instructions on installing this expansion kit, go to Installing
additional Capacity Expansion enclosures, BB933A on page 14.
