8.2 Replace a Power Module
Context
If a power module of an AR2240, AR2240C, AR3260, or AR3670 router fails, replace the
power module to ensure normal operations of the router.
If a router has two power modules installed, one of the power modules can be hot swapped.
Pay attention to the following points during the hot swap:
l The power switch of the power module must be in OFF position.
l Do not power off the other power module.
l Do not touch the other power module with your body or any tool to avoid electric
shocks.
NOTICE
l AC and DC power modules cannot be used together in the same router.
l Before replacing a power module, turn off its power switch.
l A power module can be hot swapped.
l Vacant slots in the router must be covered with filler panels.
NOTE
The procedures for replacing a power module in different routers are the same. The following procedure
replaces an AC power module in an AR2240 router.
Tools
l Phillips screwdriver
l ESD wrist strap
Procedure
Step 1 Confirm the power module that needs to be replaced.
Before replacing a power module, determine in which cabinet and chassis the power module
is installed, find the power module in the chassis, and attach a label on the panel of the power
module.
Step 2 Wear an ESD wrist strap. Ensure that the ESD wrist strap is grounded and in a close contact
with your wrist.
Step 3 Turn the power switch on the power module to the OFF position.
Step 4 Remove the power cable from the power module.
The procedure for removing a power cable is opposite to the procedure for installing the
power cable. For details, see 7.5.5 Connecting the AC Power Cable.
