6 WLAN Configuration
Expanding WLAN Coverage
To expand WLAN coverage, use the wireless distribution system (WDS) to set up a wireless
connection between two WS550 devices.
For example, if your house is too large to be fully covered by the WLAN provided by one
WS550(A) device, add another WS550(B) device and set up a wireless connection between these
two devices using the WDS. The WLAN coverage is then expanded.
To set up a WDS connection, ensure that the wireless channels, SSIDs, WLAN password and
security modes of the wireless devices are consistent with the WDS security settings, and that
only one router has its DHCP server enabled. To avoid IP address conflicts, ensure that all
wireless devices interconnected through a WDS have different web login URLs.
