Model 558 - Vertical
ly Mounted
The vertically-mou
nted twist lock circuit uses a
twist lock cylinde
r and three sensors. See Figure 4.
The three sensors r
egister the following: twist lock
is locked, twist lo
ck is unlocked, and container is
seated.
To pick up a contai
ner, twist locks must be in un-
locked position.
Vertical twist locks enter top pock-
ets of container c
orner castings. When completely
entered, the seat
ed sensor registers and switches re-
lated amber light
ON.Whenbothseatedsensorsreg-
ister and both am
ber lights are ON, twist lock circuit
will allow twist
lock cylinders to be operated. Twist
locks may be oper
ated manually by driver, or may
operate automat
ically after a 2-second time delay.

tion.
To protect against t
he possibility of twist locks open-
ing unintentional
ly, seated pins have a cam in place
which prevents twi
st lock crank from turning if
seated pin is not se
ated.
LIFTING HOOKS
Model 555
Model 555 does not
have sensors or indicator lights to
register positio
n of hooks in relation to container. On
this type of attac
hment, all safety monitoring must
be done by driver.
A good condition of hooks is essen-
tial. Check cond
ition of hooks on a daily basis.
To pick up a conta
iner, approach container with mast
tilted slightly
forward. Enter one hook and then ma-
neuver other hoo
k up and down until hook can be en-
tered into side p
ocket of container.
