3278 APL/Text Feature
The 3278 APL/Text feature, the Extended Character Set Adapter feature (pre-
requisite feature for the APL/Text feature), and the appropriate Typewriter/APL
or Typewriter/Text keyboard enable a 3278 operator
to
work with either APL or
Text applications
as
well
as
with existing applications.
A 3278 that has the APL/Text feature installed can:
• Display the 222-character-plus-space APL/Text character set shown in Figure
4-8, and
•
Be
used
to
enter a 175-character-plus-space set
of
the APL/Text character set
when equipped with the Typewriter/ APL keyboard,
or
•
Be
used
to
enter a 159-character-plus-space set
of
the APL/Text character set
when equipped with the Typewriter/Text keyboard
The remainder
of
this section describes the operations
of
the
Typewriter/ APL and
Typewriter/Text keyboards
that
are different from the normal Typewriter keyboard.
If
you are
not
familiar with the operation
of
the Typewriter keyboard, read the
Typewriter Keyboard section in Chapter 3 before continuing with this section.
