There are
two
configurations
of
the
logic for
the
3278
Display Station. The first
is
the
(D) type, shown
in
Figures 1-1,4-6, and 4-7. Three base logic cards are
used
in
this configuration: base 1 (G2), base 2 (F2),
and base 3 (E2). The second configuration,
the
(M)
type, shown
in
Figures 1-2,4-8, and 4-9, has
two
base
cards: base 1 (G2) and base 2 (F2). Note
the
new
locations
of
the
feature cards when present with the
second configuration.
The
3278
Display Station Model 5 has
the
(M)
config-
uration only, and can display either
an
80-
or
a 132-
character line. The offline test describes
the
method
for testing and
aligning
the
Model 5.
The
(D)
type
basic logic
is
packaged
on
three cards,
one 2WX3H and
two
4WX3H, and contains basic
functions as
follows:
Base card
1-01A/A1G02
Interface
to
coax, command decode and gates, and
paths to features.
Base
card 2 - 01A/A 1 F02
Storage, counters, and storage control.
Base
card 3 -
01A/A
1 E02
Character generator,
dot
character line and row
counters, video serializer, and
control.
The
(M)
type
base logic
is
packaged on
two
cards,
one 2WX3H and
the
other
4WX3H. Most
of
the
basic functions are contained
in
the
4W
card, which
is
located
at
01
A/A 1 F2. The interface
to
the
coax
cable,
the
dot
counter, and
the
video serializer are
located on
the
card
in
01A!A1G2.
1.1.1 Magnetic
Slot
Reader
The magnetic slot reader (MSR) and
the
magnetic
hand scanner
(MHS)
accessories allow the
3278
to
enter data recorded on a magnetic stripe. They
attach
to
the
display station through a cable. The
magnetic slot reader reads information when a
magnetic striped card
is
passed through a slot
in
the
reader. The magnetic hand scanner reads data when
it
is
passed over a magnetic stripe. (The magnetic
