Attention: For proper cooling and airflow, replace the air baffle before you
turn on the server. Operating the server with the air baffle removed might
damage server components.
If you have other devices to install or remove, do so now. Otherwise, go to
“Completing the installation” on page 112.
Removing the fan cage assembly
To remove the fan cage assembly, complete the following steps:
1. Read the safety information that begins on page “Safety” on page v and
“Installation guidelines” on page 44.
2. Turn off the server (see “Turning off the server” on page 24) and all attached
peripheral devices. Disconnect all power cords; then, disconnect all external
cables from the server.
3. If the server is in a rack, slide the server out of the rack.
4. Remove the top cover (see “Removing the server top cover” on page 46).
5. Squeeze the tabs on the ends of the fan cage assembly release latches and rotate
the release latches up until the assembly disengages from the chassis; then, lift
the fan cage assembly out of the server.
