Emissions Control System Information
Emission Control System related components for all engines having the
Emission Control Information label will be acronized as follows: positive
crankcase ventilation (PCV), sequential multiport fuel injection (SFI),
naturally aspirated (NAT), On-Board Diagnostic – Marine (OBD-M),
low-permeation fuel line (HOSE), electronic throttle control (ETC) and
electronic engine control (electronic EC).
Star Label
Beginning January 1, 2009, any boat sold or registered in California must
have a Star Label axed to the port side of the hull either forward or a of
the vessel registration as shown in the illustration below.
Star Label Location
A Star Label is also placed on the heat exchanger of each certied Ilmor
High-Performance Marine, LLC engine. All Ilmor High-Performance
Marine engines have a ree Star – Ultra Low Emission rating. is
indicates that the engine has sixty ve percent (65%) lower emissions
than One Star – Low Emission engines. e ree Star Label identies the
engine as meeting the California Air Resources Boards sterndrive/inboard
marine engine Tier 3 exhaust emissions standards.
