9.6.2 Expiratory volume Vte

9.6.3 Plateau/Pause
The FlowAnalyser PRO features an automatic inspiratory and expiratory plateau de-
tection. A plateau is sometimes also called pause.
During the detected plateau, the ventilation parameters RatioTp, P
plateau
, C
stat
, Ti Hold
and Te Hold are determined.
To detect a plateau, the flow must be small and the pressure must be stable. More
specifically the flow must fall below a value in the range of 1 L/min to 3 L/min, de-
pending on the respiratory mode.
At the same time, the pressure range during the plateau must not be bigger than
0.5 mbar.
