14 Intermec EasyLAN Interface Kit Installation Instructions
Chapter 3 —Setup in IPL
Setup Methods
There are three main methods for setting up the printer for network
communication:
Via the printers built-in keyboard and the Setup Mode. This method
is described in this chapter.
Using the ARPnPING method from the host computer. This method
is described in this chapter too.
Remotely from the host computer. This method is described in the
Intermec EasyLAN User’s Guide on the CD-ROM included in the kit.
Setting the Network Parameters
There are four methods for setting the IP address. DHCP, BOOTP,
and DHCP+BOOTP let the server assign a temporary IP address to
the printer. Which method to choose depends on the server. DHCP,
BOOTP, and DHCP+BOOTP also sets the netmask, default router,
and name server automatically. If the server neither supports DHCP nor
BOOTP, you will have to use the ARPnPING method. The MANUAL
option is presently not supported by IPL.
Always consult your network administrator before assign-
ing a permanent IP address to avoid having more than one
device with the same IP address in the network.
