Improperlyattached,improperlyadjusted,or
damagedslingscancausethepatienttofallor
causeinjurytoassistants.
–UseanInvacareapprovedslingthatis
recommendedbytheindividual’sdoctor,nurse
ormedicalassistantforthecomfortandsafety
oftheindividualbeinglifted.
–Invacareslingsandpatientliftaccessoriesare
specicallydesignedtobeusedinconjunction
withInvacarepatientlifts.
–Aftereachlaundering(inaccordancewith
instructionsonthesling),inspectsling(s)for
wear,tear,andloosestitching.
–Bleached,torn,cut,frayed,orbrokenslings
areunsafeandcouldresultininjury.Discard
immediately.
–DONOTalterslings.
–Besuretochecktheslingattachmentseach
timetheslingisremovedandreplaced,to
ensurethatitisproperlyattachedbeforethe
patientisremovedfromastationaryobject
(bed,chairorcommode).
–Positionthepatientintheslingasdirectedby
theinstructionsprovidedwiththesling.
–Adjustmentsforpatientsafetyandcomfort
shouldbemadebeforemovingthepatient.

–DONOTuseanykindofplasticback
incontinencepadorseatingcushionbetween
patientandslingmaterialthatmaycausethe
patienttoslideoutoftheslingduringtransfer .
–Whenconnectingslingsequippedwithcolor
codedstrapstothepatientlift,useshorter
strapsatthebackofpatientforupright
support.Usinglongerstrapswillleaveless
supportforthepatient'sbackandthepatient
willbeinamorereclinedposition.Theloops
oftheslingarecolorcodedandcanbeused
toplacepatientinvariouspositions.Thecolors
makeiteasytoconnectbothsidesofthesling
equally.Makesurethatthereissufcienthead
supportwhenliftingapatient.
