6.4.2CommodeTransferGuidelines
TheInvacarepatientliftisNOTintendedasa
transportdevice.Ifthebathroomfacilitiesare
NOTnearthebedorifthepatientliftcannotbe
easilymaneuveredtowardsthecommode,thenthe
patientMUSTbetransferredtoawheelchairand
transportedtothebathroomfacilitiesbeforeusing
thepatientliftagaintopositionthepatientona
standardcommode.
Theslingswithcommodeopeningsaredesignedto
beusedwitheitheracommodechairorstandard
commode.
Invacarerecommendsatleasttwo(2)individuals
assistintransferringthepatientontoandoffofa
commodeusingthisproduct.
1.Performthesestepswhentransferringtoacommodein
additiontothoseinLiftingandTransferringthePatient
FromaBed.
2.Beforetransferringthepatient,thepatientliftshould
beguidedtothebathroomfacilitiestocheckthatitcan
beeasilymaneuveredtowardsthecommode.
3.Attachtheslingstothelift.RefertoAttachingthe
SlingstotheLiftintheLiftingthePatientsectionin
themanual.
4.Unlocktherearcasters.
5.Elevatethepatienthighenoughtoclearthecommode
chairarmsandhavetheirweightsupportedbythe
patientlift.RefertoRaising/LoweringtheLiftinthe
Usagesectioninthemanual.
