3 ADJUSTMENTS
3.1 GENERAL________________________________________________________________
1. Adjustments and maintenan ce s hould always be
performed by a quali fied tec hnician. If pr oper
adjustment cannot be m ade, c ontact an authori zed
Jacobsen Dealer.
2. Replace, do not adjust, worn or damaged components.
3. Do not wear j ewelry or l oose fitting c lothing when
making adjustments or repairs.
4. Do not change gov ernor settings or ov erspeed the
engine.
3.2 FAN BELT________________________________________________________________
Inspect and ad just new be lt after first t en hours o f
operation. Adjust every 100 hours thereafter.
1. Adjust al ternator pul ley s o bel t ( B) de flects 9/32 to
11/32 i n. ( 7 to 9 mm ) with a 22 lb. (10 k g) pus h a t
midspan between pulleys.
2. If ten sion i s i ncorrect, loosen alt ernator m ounting
bolts ( A), and adj ust alt ernator un til proper bel t
tension is achieved. Tighten hardware (A).

3.3 PUMP DRIVE BELT ________________________________________________________
Adjust reel pump belt (C) to def lect 1/4 in. (6 mm) with a
force of 5-7 lb. (2-3 kg) applied at midspan.
1. Loosen hardware (D and E).
2. Move pump/clutch a ssembly down to i ncrease
tension on belt (C) then tighten hardware (D and E).
3. Torque ha rdware ( D and E) to 27 - 33 f t. lb. (37-45
Nm).

WARNING
To prev ent inj ury, l ower implements to the ground,
disengage all drives, engage parking brake, stop engine,
and r emove key from igni tion switch before making any
adjustments or performing maintenance.
Make s ure the mower is p arked on a solid and lev el
surface. Nev er work on a mower that i s supported onl y
by the jack. Always use jack stands.
If only the front or rear of the mower i s r aised, pl ace
chocks i n fr ont of and behind the wheels that ar e not
raised.
CAUTION
Be careful to p revent en trapment of th e ha nds an d
fingers between moving and fixed components of the
machine.
