PTX10008 Switch Interface Board Description
Switch Interface Boards (SIBs) create the switch fabric for the PTX10008. Each PTX10008 contains five
or six SIBs that are installed vertically, mid-chassis, between the line cards and the RCBs in the front and
the fan trays in the rear.
The SIBs make up the PTX10008 switching plane. Five SIBs are required for operation with the sixth
providing n+1 redundancy. When all six SIBs are installed, the PTX10008 has a net switching capacity of
42 terabits. Each SIB has eight connectors that match and connect to a connector on one of the eight line
cards. See Figure 45 on page 86.
Figure 45: SIB
The SIBs make up the PTX10008 switching plane. There are two models of SIBs: the standard SIB (see
Figure 45 on page 86) and the enhanced SIB (see Figure 46 on page 87). The two types of SIBs are not
interchangeable because of their line card connectors. Each SIB has eight connectors that match and
connect to a connector on one of the eight line cards. See [Unresolved xref] for a comparison of the two
SIB models.
