9 Glossary 
Battery
A battery is an storage device for elec-
trical energy. 
Actuators 
The term actuator means a mechatron-
ic component which is installed in a 
door or door frame and which can be 
opened by authorised media. 
Logging in 
Logging in means the authorisation of 
a programming master with which ac-
tuator settings can be changed.
Firmware update 
A firmware update consists of updat-
ing the software on the actuators. 
Kaba evolo Manager 
Kaba evolo Manager is software to 
configure and manage various types of 
actuators in one or more locking sys-
tems. 
Configuring
Configuring is modifying settings in 
the actuators. 
Charge status
The charge status is a display of the 
current remaining charge of a battery.
Mechatronic components
Mechatronic components are actua-
tors (see actuators).  
NFC
"Near Field Communication" is a trans-
fer standard for remote exchange of 
data over short distances. 
Programming master 
Programming masters are media with 
a high level of authorisation, used to 
program lower-ranking user media 
and modify the settings in actuators.   
Programming 
Programming consists of saving the 
configurations from the Programmer 
onto the actuators.
Stand-alone 
The term stand-alone refers to all actu-
ators which are installed independent-
ly in doors or door frames, however 
can equally be grouped into a locking 
system and fed to a management sys-
tem. 
Traceback 
A Traceback is an event log of all con-
nections made, authorisations trans-
ferred, access attempts and successful 
accesses.
