REBUILDING SYSTEM TRACKS
If
your KAYPRO
10
fails
to boot,
it
may be because the hard
disk
has
lost
its
system
tracks.
Also,
if
the
graphics
system
fails
completely
, it may be because
the system
tracks
also
contain
overlays for the graphics. In
either
instance,
if
you have backed up user 0 on
diskette,
you can rebuild the
tracks
by
doing
the
following:
1.
Insert
the
backup
diskette
of
user 0 in the drive
2. Reset
the
computer
.
3.
Type: d
Press RETURN.
4. Type d b:
Press RETURN.
Remember,
since
you used a
diskette
to
boot, drive C is now drive
A;
drive
A is
now
drive B. (
.
5.
Compare
the
two
directories
.
If
they
are
the
same, proceed.
If
they are
not
the
same
, PIP the entire
diskette
onto
B0
by typing:
PIP
B:
= A:*. *[OV]
6.
Type: PUTSYS
Press RETURN.
You
will
see: PUTSYS VER X.X
7.
Type: PUTOVL
Press RETURN.
You
will
see: PUTOVL VER X.X
8.
Remove
the
diskette
from drive
C.
9.
Reset
the
computer
by pressing
the
reset button. Your
computer
should
now
boot.
If
it
doesn't
, return the
computer
to
your
dealer for service.
