5.12.3 Inspecting engine by-pass flap — SL1-5461 (depending on configu‐
ration)
Make sure that the following preconditions are met:
q Preparatory maintenance activities are fulfilled. (For more information see: 5.5 Preparatory
maintenance activities, page 98.)

u Inspect overall condition of the engine by-pass flap.
u Inspect the compensator and check for potential deformation.
u To make sure that the flap rotates freely, rotate the compensator that is connected to the
engine by-pass flap.
u Inspect connections to cooling system and check for coolant leaks.
If defect is detected:
u Record and report any defect.
u Make sure that authorized service personnel correct the defect.
