5) After the engine speed is stabilized, test the
return rate in 1 minute with measuring cylin-
der J6.
a You may test for 20 seconds and judge
by multiplying the result by 3.
a If the supply pump is not supplying fuel,
the engine speed may not rise. In this
case, record the engine speed, too, dur-
ing the test.
a If the return rate (spill) from the injector
is in the following range, it is normal.
6) After finishing testing, stop the engine.
4. Work after finishing testing
After finishing all testing, remove the testing
tools and return the removed parts.
Bleeding air from fuel circuit
a If fuel is used up or if a fuel circuit part is
removed and installed, bleed air from the fuel
circuit according to the following procedure.
1. Remove fuel prefilter (1) and fill it with fuel.
a Fill the fuel prefilter with clean fuel and take
care that dirt will not enter it.
a Check that the cap is fitted to part (a) (central
hole) of the fuel prefilter, and then add fuel
through part (b) (holes around the central
hole).
a After filling the fuel prefilter with fuel, remove
the cap from part (a).
a If clean fuel is not available, do not remove
the prefilter but fill it with the fuel by operating
priming pump (4).
a Do not add fuel to fuel main filter (2) from out-
side.
