Aligning and setting the parameters of the flame scanner
Warning to avoid damage to property
Right from the outset, you must align the flame scanner to optimum effect and optimise its
settings. Any changes alter aspects of how the flame scanner works. Following any
change, it is necessary to check the correct switch-off parameters again by means of cor-
responding switch-off tests.
You generally start making settings with the flame burning at the burner's base firing-
rate and can then continue for the background signal when the burner to be monitored is
off. It is also possible to do this the other way around.
Align the compact flame scanner as follows:
Align the flame scanner preferably in such a way that it picks up the first third of the flame
to be monitored (high flame frequencies).
Also align the flame scanner in such a way that it picks none of the radiation from other
burners or the re-radiation from the combustion chamber (low flame frequencies).
