Using SED AK Manager
SED encryption
The default status of SED encryption is Disabled, and the status can be changed in Lenovo XClarity
Controller.
When SED encryption is changed to Enabled, you have to set a password to generate the initial SED key.
Set the password and re-enter it for the confirmation. Click Apply to get the SED AK.
Attention: Once SED encryptoin is changed to Enabled, it cannot be changed back to Disabled.
Change the SED AK
• Generate SED AK from Passphrase: Set the password and re-enter it for the confirmation. Click Re-
generate to get the new SED AK.
Recover the SED AK
• Recover SED AK using Passphrase: Use the password that set in Generate SED AK from Passphrase
mode to recover the SED AK.
Remove the front I/O bezel
Follow instructions in this section to remove a front I/O bezel.

CAUTION:
The power-control button on the device and the power switch on the power supply do not turn off
the electrical current supplied to the device. The device also might have more than one power cord.
To remove all electrical current from the device, ensure that all power cords are disconnected from
the power source.
Attention:
• Read
“Installation Guidelines” on page 1 and “Safety inspection checklist” on page 2 to make sure that
you work safely.
• Remove the shipping bracket, if applicable (see
“Configuration guide” on page 9); then, power off the
server and disconnect the power cords (see
“Power off the server” on page 8).
• Remove the node from the enclosure , if applicable (see
“Configuration guide” on page 9); then, carefully
lay the node on a flat, static-protective surface.
Note: Depending on the specific configuration, the front I/O bezel and I/O module board might look different
from the illustrations in this section.
