•Yourfingerisrough,dry,orinjured.
•Yourfingerisstainedwithdirt,mud,oroil.
•Thesurfaceofyourfingerisdifferentfromwhenyouenrolledyourfingerprint.
•Yourfingeriswet.
•Afingerisusedthathasnotbeenenrolled.
Toimprovethesituation,trythefollowing:
•Cleanorwipeyourhandstoremoveanyexcessdirtormoisturefromthefingers.
•Enrollanduseadifferentfingerforauthentication.
•Ifyourhandsaredry,applylotiontothem.

Someofthedatastoredontheinternalstoragedrivemightbesensitive.Handingyourcomputeroverto
someoneelsewithoutdeletingtheloadedsoftware,suchasoperatingsystemsandapplicationsoftware,
mightevenviolatelicenseagreements.Besuretodeletedatastoredonthestoragedrivebeforeyou

Youcanusethefollowingmethodstodeletedatafromthestoragedrive:
•MovethedatatotheRecycleBin,andthenemptytheRecycleBin.
•Deletethedata.
•Formatyourstoragedrive,usingthesoftwareforinitializingit.
•UsetherecoveryprogramprovidedbyLenovotobringthestoragedrivebacktothefactorydefault
settings.
Theseoperations,however,onlychangethefilelocationofthedata;theydonotdeletethedataitself.In
otherwords,thedataretrievalprocessingisdisabledunderanoperatingsystemsuchasWindows.The
dataisstillthere,eventhoughitseemstobelost.Thus,itissometimespossibletoreadthedatabyuseof
specialsoftwarefordatarecovery.Thereisariskthatpeopleofbadfaithmightreadandmisusethecritical
dataonthestoragedriveforunexpectedpurposes.
Topreventleakageofdata,itisimportantthatyoudeleteallthedatafromthestoragedrivewhenyou
disposeof,sell,orhandoveryourcomputer.Youcandestroythedataphysicallybysmashingthestorage
drivewithahammer,ormagneticallybymeansofstrongmagneticpower,thusmakingthedataunreadable.
