Installinganewoperatingsystem
Insomesituations,youmightneedtoinstallanewoperatingsystem.Thistopicprovidesinstructionson
howtoinstallanewoperatingsystem.
InstallingtheWindows7operatingsystem
Beforeyoustart,printtheseinstructions.
Attention:Theprocessofinstallinganewoperatingsystemdeletesallthedataonyourharddiskdriveor
solid-statedrive,includingthedatathatwerestoredinahiddenfolder.
ToinstalltheWindows7operatingsystem,dothefollowing:
1.CopyallthesubdirectoriesandfilesintheC:\SWTOOLSdirectorytoaremovablestoragedevice.
•ThesupplementfilesfortheWindows7operatingsystemareintheC:\SWTOOLS\OSFIXESdirectory.
•ThedevicedriversareintheC:\SWTOOLS\DRIVERSdirectory.
•ThepreinstalledprogramsareintheC:\SWTOOLS\APPSdirectory.
2.StarttheThinkPadSetupprogram.See“UsingtheThinkPadSetupprogram”onpage59.
3.SelectStartup➙UEFI/LegacyBoot.Thendooneofthefollowing:
•ToinstalltheWindows7(32-bit)operatingsystem,selectLegacyOnlyorBoth.
•ToinstalltheWindows7(64-bit)operatingsysteminLegacymode,selectLegacyOnly.
•ToinstalltheWindows7(64-bit)operatingsysteminUEFImode,selectUEFIOnly.
4.PressF10toexittheThinkPadSetupprogram.
5.InserttheWindows7operatingsysteminstallationDVDintotheopticaldrive,andrestartthecomputer.
Note:IfyouarestartingtheinstallationDVDimagefromanexternalUSBdevice,doadditional
configurationsbeforeyoustart.Formoreinformation,goto:

6.RestoretheC:\SWTOOLSdirectorythatyoubackedupbeforeinstallingtheWindows7operatingsystem.
