Solution:Theslidermightbegrayedout.Thismeansthatitspositionisxedbythehardwareand

•Problem:Thevolumeslidersdonotstayinplacewhensomeaudioapplicationsareused.
Solution:Itisnormalforthesliderstochangepositionwhencertainsoundapplicationsareused.The
applicationsareawareoftheVolumeMixerwindow(inWindowsXP,VolumeControlwindow)andare
allowedtochangethesettingsthemselves.AnexampleistheWindowsMediaPlayer.Usuallythe
applicationhasslidersavailabletocontrolthesoundfromwithintheapplication.
•Problem:ThevolumeslidersdonotalltintheVolumeControlwindowinWindowsXP.
Solution:PressCtrl+Skeyswhilethevolumecontrolisinfocus,andtoggletoasmallersize.
•Problem:Thebalanceslidercannotcompletelymuteonechannel.
Solution:Thecontrolisdesignedtocompensateforminordifferencesinbalanceanddoesnot
completelymuteeitherchannel.
•Problem:ThereisnovolumecontrolforMIDIsoundontheVolumeMixerwindow(inWindowsXP ,

Solution:Usethehardwarevolumecontrol.InWindowsXP,usethehardwarevolumecontrolorthe
WavevolumecontrolontheVolumeControlwindow.ThisisbecausetheBuilt-InSynthesizerSoftware
