Considerationsforattachinganexternalmonitor
•Wheninstallinganoperatingsystem,youmustinstallthedisplaydriverforyourmonitorthatissupplied
withthecomputer,andtheMonitorINFlethatissuppliedwiththeexternalmonitor.
•Ifyousetaresolutionhigherthantheresolutionyouareusingonthepanel,anduseapanelthatdoesnot
supportthatresolution,takeadvantageofthevirtualscreenfunction,whichenablesyoutodisplayonlya
partofthehigh-resolutionscreenimageyourcomputerproduces.Youcanseeotherpartsoftheimage
bymovingthescreenwiththeTrackPointorotherpointingdevice.
Note:ThevirtualscreenfunctionisnotsupportedonWindows7.
•Iftheexternalmonitoryouareusingisoutdated,theresolutionandtherefreshratemaybelimited.
Usingdualdisplays
UsingtheExtenddesktopfunction
YourcomputersupportsafunctionnamedtheExtenddesktop.WiththeExtenddesktopfunction,you
candisplayoutputonboththecomputerdisplayandanexternalmonitor.Youcanalsodisplaydifferent
desktopimagesoneachmonitor.
YoucanusetheExtenddesktopfunctionwithoutchanginganysettings.Ifthefunctiondoesnotwork,refer
to“EnablingtheExtenddesktopfunction”onpage50
toenableit.
ConsiderationsforusingtheExtenddesktopfunction
•IfyouwanttoshowDOSfull-screenwhileintheExtenddesktopmode,onlytheprimarydisplayshows
DOS;theotherdisplayisblackedout.

displaybydoingthefollowing:
1.PressCtrl+Alt+Fn+F12.TheIntelCUIwindowopens.
2.SelectExtendedDesktop.
