Attachinganexternalmonitor
Youcanattachanexternalmonitortoyourcomputertoexpandyourcomputercapabilities.
Note:Ifyouattachanexternalmonitor,avideointerfacecablewithaferritecoreinstalledonthecable
isrequired.
Yourcomputersupportsamaximumvideoresolutionofupto2560x1600,providedthattheexternal
monitoralsosupportsthatresolution.Formoredetails,refertothemanualsprovidedwithyourmonitor.
Youcansetanyresolutionforeitherthecomputerdisplayortheexternalmonitor.Whenyouusebothatthe
sametime,theresolutionofbothisthesame.Ifyousetahigherresolutionforthecomputerdisplay,you
canseeonlypartofthescreenatatime.YoucanseeotherpartsbymovingtheimagewiththeTrackPoint
pointingdeviceoranotherpointingdevice.
Youcanmovethedisplayoutputtothecomputerdisplay,theexternalmonitor,orbothbyconguring
settingsintheDisplaySettingswindow.
Connectinganexternalmonitor
Ifyourcomputercannotdetecttheexternalmonitor,right-clickonthedesktop,thenselectScreen
resolution.ClicktheDetectbutton.
Toattachanexternalmonitor,dothefollowing:
1.ConnecttheexternalmonitortotheMiniDisplayPortconnectororThunderboltconnector;thenconnect
themonitortoanelectricaloutlet.
2.Turnontheexternalmonitor.
3.ChangethedisplayoutputlocationbypressingF6.Thisenablesyoutoswitchbetweenviewingoutput
ontheexternalmonitor,thecomputermonitor,andbothmonitors.
Notes:
•IfthemonitorconnectorisnotcompatiblewiththeMiniDisplayPortconnectororThunderboltconnector
onyourcomputer,youcanuseaconvertcabletoestablishtheconnection.Convertcablesareavailable
asoptionsfromLenovoathttp://www.lenovo.com/accessories/services/index.html.
•UseDisplayPortcertiedcablewithDisplayPorticon()toconnectthedeviceforstablefunctionality.
Settingthemonitortype
Tosetyourmonitortype,dothefollowing:
1.Connecttheexternalmonitortothemonitorconnector,andthenconnectthemonitortoanelectrical
outlet.
2.Turnontheexternalmonitor.
3.Right-clickonthedesktop,andclickScreenresolution.
Note:Ifyourcomputercannotdetecttheexternalmonitor,clicktheDetectbutton.
4.Clicktheiconforthedesiredmonitor(theMonitor-2iconisfortheexternalmonitor).
5.SetResolution.
6.ClickAdvancedSettings.
